Hi,
My name is Julie, and I love words. I started this website to try to make it in freelance editing, which is what I want to do for a living. One of my life goals is to write a really good novel.
I got into editing through an editor friend who took the time to teach me the ins and outs of Adobe software. I then honed my skills in Centennial’s Publishing program, in Toronto. Prior to that I studied English at TMU, and, since even earlier, had wanted to work with books and print.
Some facts about me are that I like cats (which is apparently very “publishing professional” of me), I like literary and feminist fiction – my favourite books are The Awakening by Kate Chopin and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, – and that I can get quite analytical, but sometimes maybe too analytical.
A good editor is honest about the time it takes to do a careful job. They don’t fall into the mistake of thinking that a piece of work will be predictable – they know that new problems will come up, and they plan ahead.
